Busy, busy, busy!

Well,  since I last wrote I’ve had quite a busy time! In fact, at the moment, I’m hardly ever at home.

I don’t think I’ve ever made so many plans or accepted so many invitations. My confidence is sky high!

I’ve been to a couple of concerts, one of which was standing only, no seats. We wanted a good view so we arrived early. You are not allowed to take food in with you so I was a little concerned about what I was going to eat. I didn’t want to eat junk food but I needn’t have worried. Unbelievably they had a deli stand! I was able to buy a hummus salad, thank goodness!

So armed with my bottle of water I stood, sang and danced for about six and a half hours… amazing! I don’t think I would have lasted that long before I lost my weight. I’m so glad Beyoncé came this year and not last.

Talking of last year……

Whilst on holiday last summer, I bought a swimming costume in a small size. I had made my mind up to have the procedure so I was determined to get into it this year! Yes…… it fits and so I decided to try out my local pool.

So there I was feeling great in my new swimwear, only to get out of the water to find that my costume is completely see through when wet!  No wonder it was a bargain!

Thank goodness I didn’t know anybody there!

I’m in control!

Well…….. I’ve had a very busy time of late!

I have been away with my sister and her family. I think that I have walked more in the last few days than I have in the last ten years. I have been on a rope bridge and climbing rocks. It’s amazing, I could not have done any of that last year.

My sister told me when we came back that she had been worried about what I was going to eat whilst we were away. She said she was shocked and pleasantly surprised at my new eating habits and choices.  I knew what she meant because one of my worst fears prior and immediately after the sleeve operation was that would I ever be able to eat normally again and would probably feel terribly deprived.

It isn’t like that at all!  Whilst away I ate breakfast every day, usually a slice of wholemeal toast with scrambled egg, one morning I even had a little bacon. We didn’t usually stop for lunch but I always had a banana and a bottle of water with me. In the evening we went to some really nice restaurants.  I chose things like chicken skewers (a starter portion) or tuna steak. There are lots of healthy choices on menus now and I will try pretty much anything. Most restaurants will also be happy to give you a small main course if you can’t find a starter that you fancy as a main course. I even managed a little of my sisters cheese cake one evening (special holiday treat!).

What I’m trying to say is that for the first time ever food is not in control of me. I am in control of food and that makes me feel really good.
